Risto Duggan

Risto Duggan is a “physical” power yoga teacher with a positive vibe. His yoga practice has helped him recover from a lot of damage and broken bones. A former multi-sport athlete and Hip Hop teacher. Risto keeps it funky, flowing, and strong! He believes that adjustments done properly, will change your practice and is getting quite a reputation for his! He teaches “Rocket Yoga” and Active Yin at STRETCH.

Practice and Breathe with Balance and Grace…. Less struggle, more surrender… Less ego, more compassion

I am a Vancouver based yoga teacher with a focus on healing. My background as a semi-professional multi-sport athlete left my body broken and damaged!.

On my 40th birthday I took my first yoga class and my life changed dramatically.

Since completing the 200 hour yoga teacher training in 2006, I built a strong following of students who attend my Rocket, Active Yin classes, Workshops and Immersions.

Rocket Yoga

Rocket Yoga is an Ashtanga based practice created by Larry Schultz in the late ’80s. Larry took the first 3 sequences of Ashtanga Yoga and created 3 playful strong sequences.

Rocket 1 is the “Primary Series” of Rocket Yoga with a strong emphasis on forward folds.

Rocket 2 has extra focus on back bending poses with a different hip sequence & playful optional inversions.

Rocket 3 is a 2-3 hour “Workshop” practice.

Active Yin

Active Yin Yoga (originally gravity yoga) is a targeted mobility training created by Lucas Rockwood in 2007 in Thailand.

He made 3 sequences ( Hips, Hamstrings, Back & Shoulders ).

Each sequence has 8-12 poses being held from 2-5 minutes with some functional mobility transitional postures.

The breathing is the GOLDEN NUGGET of this practice!

4:8 Breathing ( 4 Breath inhale nose: 8 Breath exhale mouth).

This breathing taps into the para sympathetic nervous system and helps to turn down your stress response.

I have added my flavour to the sequences and love how the students have responded! Learning to heal yourself through movement is awesome!

This supplemental practice is the perfect compliment to The Rocket!

My main focus is on healing the body. Releasing tension through a strong practice focussing on the breath, and building true internal strength.

I’m known for my focussed cueing, alignment, quality adjustments when possible, levity and positive guidance.
